Con "El curioso caso de Benjamín Button", basada en un cuento de Francis Scout Fitzgerald, "Slumdog Millionaire", de Danny Boyle, y el regreso de Michael Rourke en "El Luchador" como las principales nominadas, Hollywood vivirá este fin de semana su máxima fiesta anual en el Kodak Theatre de Los Angeles.

La Academia de Artes y ciencias Cinematográficas de Hollywood otorgará el próximo domingo los premios Oscar en un terna en la que se destacan diez nominaciones, entre ellas el "El curioso caso de Benjamín Button", basada en un cuento de Francis Scott Fitzgerald.

Este año, sin títulos verdaderamente fuertes que hayan conmocionado al público, se destaca además de dicha película, de David Fincher, el filme "Slumdog Millionaire", de Danny Boyle.

Pero nada más. Quizá lo más interesante sean las pugnas por mejor actor y mejor actriz: en el primer caso tal vez Michael Rourke, de regreso de su ostracismo con "El luchador", le arrebate el Oscar a Sean Penn, que tanto soñó con él gracias a "Milk".

Entre las damas la cosa estaría entre Kate Winslet por "The Reader", aún no estrenada en la Argentina, Angelina Jolie por "El sustituto" y Meryl Streep, por "La duda", aunque la última ya tiene dos Oscar en su repisa.

Donde parece no haber duda en el Oscar a actor secundario, que casi seguramente irá a parar a manos de la hijita (3 años) del extinto Heath Ledger por la actuación de su papá en "El caballero de la noche", por razones artísticas y una pizca de necrofilia.

Entre las mujeres tampoco están claras las cosas, aunque no sería raro que el Oscar a la mejor actriz secundaria se lo llevara Penélope Cruz, una española con cartel de muy bella y mimada por los medios.

También están Marisa Tomei ("El luchador"), Amy Adams ("La duda") y Viola Davis, la morena de "La duda", entre las premiables.

Esta edición número 81 de los Oscar es la primera desde la declaración de crisis internacional del capitalismo y no sería raro que el conductor debutante Hugh Jackman, actor australiano en crecimiento, se refiera a ello, lo mismo que a la asunción de Obama, siempre con un humor muy contenido.

Lo que sucederá en el Kodak Theatre de Los Angeles es algo ya conocido y al mismo tiempo enigmático hasta que se abran los sobres, en una ceremonia cuya banalidad atrae a la mayor parte del planeta.

Es también la oportunidad de ver -aunque no tocar- a las celebridades que recorren la "red carpet" fuera de sus personajes y son entrevistadas por movileros deluxe que los hacen hablar siempre de sí mismos y, en todo caso, de sus trajes y vestidos diseñados por carísimos expertos.

Si se tiene en cuenta que el cine de Hollywood floreció siempre con las crisis económicas y en las guerras -para permitirle al espectador escapar de sus grises y frágiles existencias-, no es raro que en la actualidad sea transformado de vuelta un refugio.

Como en otras oportunidades, filmes recientes como "El día que la Tierra se detuvo", de Scott Derrickson, o "Soy leyenda", de Francis Lawrence, dos remakes de producciones de la época de Corea, parecieron anunciar que algo se estaba gestando (aunque ahora en el propio seno del Imperio).

Es posible que esas películas agoreras sean sustituidas, como antaño, por títulos divertidos, hogareños, de superación y optimismo, que permitan olvidar las penurias de la vida diaria, aunque ahora ya no sea necesario ingresar a un templo del cine para conjurar la suerte.

Lo cual no es una buena noticia para los aficionados al cine de calidad, en general desatentos a lo que pase con el Oscar; y quizá sea una oportunidad para las pantallas nacionales para afinar la puntería y ocupar el sitio que la gran industria les niega
